360 Recycling, a Jamaican start up, has created a proprietary substance known as 360-RM, which turns waste such as foam and plastic into a low-cost and energy-efficient construction material. The business plan for the venture is also focused on tackling youth unemployment in the country.
Jamaica submitted its first Voluntary National Review on the Sustainable Development Goals in 2018 to the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development. The report tracks the progress Jamaica has made so far towards each of the 17 SDGs and 169 targets.
The Centre was established as part of the Government’s Human Capital Development Plan aimed at facilitating innovation in tourism to boost the country’s economy as well as to facilitate the certification of Jamaicans working in tourism.
The Centre was jointly set up by the Scientific Research Council in Jamaica and the Caribbean Industrial Research Institute in Trinidad and Tobago. The Centre focuses on helping to proactively and profitably adapt, develop and deploy clean technologies and business models.
