Malaysia to Simplify Trade Regulations with UN Tool

The Government of Malaysia is streamlining non-tariff measures (NTMs) and easing the regulatory burden on trade with the help of a tool created by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development. The initiative aims to reduce compliance costs by 25 per cent, using the Trade Analysis Information System (TRAINS) database to identify and locate the current 5,000 NTMs across the 18 Malaysian ministries and determine their necessity and efficacy.
